Sheridan Adams, M.F.T..
Marriage and Family Therapist, MFC 25286

I've been practicing biofeedback since 1985. From 1985 to 1990 I was the Biofeedback Specialist at the Stress Management and Biofeedback Center, California State University, Hayward. I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1990 and have a private practice, which includes both biofeedback and psychotherapy. As a long-term practitioner of Buddhist meditation, I can also offer this approach to interested clients. Meditation and Mindfulness training can be especially helpful in learning how to relate with more equanimity to chronic difficulties and to problems that can't really be "solved".  I'm a European American woman interested in cross-cultural and race issues, and have been involved in unlearning racism work for a number of years.

In my psychotherapy practice I use a variety of approaches depending on the needs of the client. One of these approaches is Depth-Oriented Brief Therapy (DOBT).  DOBT is an effective, non-pathologizing and compassionate therapeutic method, which helps clients discover and transform what keeps them locked into specific painful patterns. The therapy is dynamic and experiential, assisting clients to uncover and free themselves from the, often unconscious, ways of perceiving themselves and reality which have significantly limited them.

Areas I have a good deal of experience with include anxiety disorders, adults abused as children, grief issues, depression, relationship difficulties, EAP counseling and the psychological impact of health issues.

Biofeedback specialties are stress management and pelvic floor disorders, including incontinence.

I feel grateful to be in a profession, which allows me to be of help to others.

Please feel free to give me a call.
